The story begins on February 6, 2036, when an accident in which computers have gone mad destroys many major cities around the world.

The massive disaster is called the "2036 Problem", but there is a prediction that a similar incident will occur in 2038.

Thus, a group of scientists use the Gaia Supercomputer to create an "Earth Simulator" to prevent this, but they fail because the birth potential of humans has dramatically decreased.

The scientists then enter the "Arecibo Message" formula into the Earth Simulator, successfully bringing humanity to another world.
